Emphas.is is “a new and innovative platform for photojournalism. It proposes a unique bond between photojournalists and their audience, and in the process aims to create a new financial model for photojournalism in the 21st century.” It looks promising and is another example of crowd source funding for journalism projects.
Emphas.is is the brainchild of photo editor Tina Ahrens and photojournalist Karim Ben Khelifa.
Thinking of getting into journalism? Great, just be sure to know it’s a multitask job and you need more than journalism skills to get and keep a job in this field. Pick up a half decent camera and learn how to use it. Learn how to shot and edit video while your at it. Then turn the cameras on yourself and learn how to be in front of them. What tech geek doesn’t want to read this stuff and dream?
